About me

Hi, I'm Christiana and I live with my husband and 3 children in Crouch End.

For 10 years I worked as a Family Support Worker providing complex and intense support for children who live within families who are experiencing difficulties. A big part of my role was supporting parents/carers with promoting early years development as well as a healthy lifestyle for their children, ensuring they have the best start in life.

I have spent hours studying children's behaviours, various parenting styles and have delivered positive parenting courses to families. Positive parenting felt natural to me, so when it came to finding a direction for my own parenting style, it was the perfect fit. Positive parenting is focused on developing a strong, deeply committed relationship between parent/carer and child based on communication and mutual respect. Positive parenting focuses on teaching children not just what but also why. I've worked hard to promote these principles within my family and continue to build upon this. I hope to be able to enrich other children's lives with this approach as I find it very rewarding.

Now, I'm at a point in life where I've realised that I want to be at home with my own children. It was an easy decision for me to combine my love of supporting other children with their early development whilst being home with my own children.

I am warm, caring and provide a safe, nurturing home-like setting where your child will feel loved and cared for whilst learning through play. I am passionate about exploring nature, the environment and how we can teach children to protect their planet. I love cooking and providing healthy, interesting meals. I enjoy seeing children being involved in what they eat and trying new foods. I feel strongly that free & creative play is a necessary part of our days and we spend time out in the community as much as possible.

There is no greater joy or reward than watching children thrive and develop into young, happy, well-adjusted children who are ready to take on the world and with that said I hope to meet you and your little one soon!

Our Day

Days will be spent exploring, playing, socialising and laughing. Come rain or shine we will enjoy time together in the woods, park or local drop-in group.  Taking adventures with the children is a must, it keeps them stimulated and it helps them to thrive and develop.  Learning through play is the best way to develop new skills and enhance already learned ones.  The EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) promotes learning through play and games for under 5's and I follow this framework within my setting.

Making healthy food choices at a young age will help shape our children's future.  I support children by providing healthy, delicious and interesting home-made food and snacks.  Having the children be a part of this process will give them a keen interest in trying new foods/flavours.

Naps/quiet time will be built into the day (usually at home) depending on the needs of the children. Getting enough sleep/rest is crucial and will encourage brain development and give the children a chance to recharge.
There are 7 areas of development (EYFS)
    • Communication and language
    • Physical development
    • Personal, social and emotional development
    • Literacy
    • Mathematics
    • Understanding the world
    • Expressive arts and design
Working alongside children to develop these areas will help promote school readiness and attainment to support their future.
